MMS Medical were delighted to be invited to attend the opening of the new €7.5million state of the art purpose built Enable Ireland Childrens Service Centre in Cork. MMS Medical have partnered with Enable Ireland since the company was founded over 30 years ago. Originally known as the Cork Spastic Clinic in Ballintemple and later the Lavanagh Centre on the same site. The new facility in Curraheen will provide vital therapy and support services to over 800 Children in the Cork region.


The new Enable Ireland Lavanagh Centre was officially opened by Taniste Simon Coveney who welcomed the new building . ” I am delighted to be here today to open this fantastic and much need facility. This new Children’s Centre will ensure that Children with Disabilites in Cork will get the services they need and deserve in the best possible facilities ”



The achievement at bringing this large scale project to fruition was highlighted by all speakers at the event, including Stephen Ryan, a former service user whose children now attend the Lavanagh Centre, ” Being able to bring children for therapy sessions in a purpose built and well-equipped facility is something we all deserve and it will make a huge difference to anyone coming to the Lavanagh Centre now and in the years to come.”

The Enable Ireland Lavanagh Centre in Cork provides core therapy and support services to children and their families in the Cork/Kerry region. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Psychology services are all provided at the centre. Specialist services including feeding, assistive technology, spasticity and tone management, seating, upper limb assessment clinic, Cork/Kerry orthopaedic clinic, hip & spinal surveillance, casting and gait analysis will also be provided for at the new Curraheen Centre.

MMS Medical were one of the equipment suppliers on site to install the purpose built assessment rooms and treatment rooms. All rooms are easily accessible and fitted with ceiling hoists. A hydrotherapy pool, meeting rooms, preschool supports, gym, sensory rooms and an outdoor accessible playground are all included in the new centre. Universal accessible bathrooms provide the latest in changing benches, toileting, showering and transfer equipment.
