Our customers include the HSE, Charitable foundations and private clients and community equipment stores. We liaise with Community based Occupational Therapists to look for seating solutions for clients with postural and function goals. Our team provide a caring, user-centric and holistic approach that is tailored to each individual. Our seats are delivered from manufacturers based in Sweden and Holland and various other European and UK suppliers. With our headquarters in Cork we operate from offices located in Cork, Dublin & Mayo.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking to recruit a suitably clinically qualified person to carry out seating assessments and reviews in Ireland in various seating Clinic and locations throughout Ireland.

The ideal candidate should have a qualification and background with minimum of 5 years’ experience in one of the following areas…

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Rehabilitation Engineering Technician

The role will involve conducting wheelchair seating assessments and reviews with HSE Wheelchair users and their therapists. These assessments can be carried out in our purposed built therapy / seating clinic room in our Cork office but can also be conducted at various settings including HSE Centres, Hospitals, community and home settings. You must have an empathic and resilient approach when faced with challenging situations with the ability to work collaboratively with our customer service, logistics, and the wider clinical teams. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload of patients with a range of permanent wheelchair mobility, postural, and pressure relief needs. You will ensure best practice is maintained throughout whilst receiving professional guidance from the Clinical and Service Leads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hold, prioritise, plan, and organise your own caseload of service users, some of whom will have complex seating needs
  • Participation in clinical interventions including plinth review of range of movements.
  • Provide high quality, service user focused assessment and prescription of manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, buggies, and seating.
  • Measure and capture scans of complex seating systems and load these onto the manufacturers robotic production platform for custom built solutions.
  • Work within professional standards and clinical guidelines whilst promoting best practice and undertaking all aspects of clinical and technical duties
  • Provide clinical and technical advice to other members of the seating team, therapists, and family members.
  • Supervise and oversee the technical fitting of the custom seats to clients’ chairs.
  • Identify therapists and clinicians for potential new sales, gaining invitations to conduct client assessments with them, leading to equipment sales.
  • Operate and maintain company vehicle in a clean, presentable and professional appearance at all times and in full accordance with company and legal requirements.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Occupational Therapy or
  • BSc in Physiotherapy or
  • BSc in Rehabilitation Engineering

This role will require a minimum of 5 years working in clinical practice in your relevant speciality field.

Reporting

  • Report to the Directors
  • Client records to be kept up to date on all customers

It should be noted that a certain extent of physical work is associated with this position, requiring bulky demonstration equipment to be used with client visits.

Training

Full and extensive training will be provided to the candidate selected. Training will include working with our other seating technicians at MMS, and joint assessments until experienced. Your training will also include periodically visits to Sweden and Holland to meet with our manufacturer partners.
