Ireland’s leading supplier of mobility and rehabilitation equipment is pleased to announce their exclusive distributorship of the FREEWHEEL wheelchair attachment.

This durable, lightweight (under 5 lbs) product quickly clamps to your existing rigid-frame wheelchair footrest and allows you to push over surfaces that would typically be impossible. With the FreeWheel you are ready to roll in seconds.

Strolling, exercising, hiking, or just checking the mailbox, is so much easier with the FreeWheel. Grass, curbs, and rough roads can be easily navigated to hep you in your quest for independence.

This is a new product attaches to your existing wheelchair that allows you to push over surfaces that would typically be impossible!

Will it fit on my chair?
Yes! The FreeWheel is designed to fit on most manual, rigid frame wheelchair footrests. When you get your FreeWheel you are provided with all the necessary parts to make sure your own personal FreeWheel fits perfectly and securely.

How big is the FreeWheel?
The FreeWheel weighs just 5 lbs. and is approximately 2 feet long. The light weight, yet compact design, makes it the perfect attachment to any manual wheelchair. As seen in the video, I can handle it easily and I’m a quad!

Does the lifting of the casters make you want to tip backwards?
No. The small weight out front more than makes up for the backwards tilt. In other words, when I push up my ramp into my van while using my FreeWheel, I don’t have to lean as far forward to keep from wheeling. I like this!

Click here to download the PDF for more information about the Freewheel

MMS Medical has today announced the launch of a new website dedicated to wheelchairs users in Ireland. Primarily aimed at active and sports wheelchair users who are more familiar and demanding in their requirements, the site aims to give the visitor a preview of some of the best and specialist wheelchairs available.

The site also features some standard, power and paediatric wheelchairs aimed at demonstrating to private customers just how wide the range and type of modern day wheelchairs has become.

Commenting on the website Adam Lingard, Marketing Development Manager for MMS Medical stated; “In the current economic climate, health service cut-backs are resulting in more and more wheelchair users funding their own wheelchair purchases. WheelchairsIreland.ie is a response to this need and is one of the ways we’re trying to help people get the right chair for their needs at the best possible price”

Because the site has just been launched, MMS are also looking for visitors to give feedback and comment on what additional content they would like to see and find useful. Adam also added “It may be that users want more information on wheelchair friendly activities, holidays or sporting events. Although it’s not something we’re involved in, content will be added based upon demand and requests. In turn this will help bring more traffic to the site and help us promote to a larger audience.”

Indeed, even as the site was being developed and went online for initial testing, the first enquiry about purchasing a wheelchair came in and has resulted in a client assessment for one of the specialist GTM sports wheelchairs.

In another related company development, the company’s showroom at their Cork Head-Offices is about to be closed soon and will re-open with a more ‘retail friendly environment’ aimed at encouraging more customers to come direct for their mobility and ADL purchases. An announcement is expected with the next few weeks.

Further information on these developments is available from MMS Head-Office on Tel.021 461 8000 or e-mail info@mmsmedical.ie

With the New Year now underway to a slow and cold start, MMS Medical is pleased to announce good news with the addition of two new important distributorships.

Anatomic Sitt, the renowned Swedish manufacturers of specialist mobility equipment have changed their distribution arrangements and appointed MMS Medical as their exclusive partner for Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Commenting on the agreement Rickard Eriksson, Export Director stated “At Anatomic Sitt we strive to produce some of the best mobility products available worldwide and by working with MMS Medical, we believe that we now have the best partner to bring these products to market through-out all of Ireland. We know MMS have a great relationship with therapists across the country. We now look forward to meeting them and providing clinical training with MMS in the very near future”

With a full range of demonstration stock now in place, a two day clinical training event in Dublin later this month already fully subscribed and initial client orders already received, the distributorship is off to a great start for 2010.

Additionally, MMS Medical is now also the distributor for Clos-O-Mat, the fully automated toileting system which has sold over 30,000 units in the UK. Again, sales have already begun with initial orders received. Demonstration models are installed in MMS premises, with portable ‘demo’ units available together with plans for further ‘live’ installations already underway at key centres for the disabled.

Further to this news, MMS Medical are also running a series of one and two day clinical seating and posture training courses for occupational therapists at Croke Park, Dublin commencing 15th February with the world renowned Sharon Pratt as the trainer. Delegate places are already being filled and the all courses are expected to be over-subscribed.

Commenting on these developments, Gearoid O’Herlihy, MMS Managing Director added “2010 is already looking to be an important year for MMS, with two new distributorships and further training for OT’s being provided, it shows how despite the recession, MMS is still moving forward and still supporting the therapists profession“

In Ireland, MMS Medical remains the country’s leading supplier of mobility and rehabilitation equipment. Further information on these products and events is available from MMS Head-Office on Tel.021 461 8000 or e-mail info@mmsmedical.ie
